Longevity in the advertising industry is a rare find. Many make it past the 20-year mark. Some reach 30. For more than 60 years, Ken Custer has been the epitome of professionalism here in our Colorado ad scene. For a quarter of a century, he was well known as the owner and publisher of The Review, a monthly magazine covering Colorado advertising and marketing news.

Ken’s career started back in 1955, taking his first job in television production with Channel 7 when television was still in black and white. Fifteen years later, he became account supervisor at Fox Sweeney & True Advertising, where he oversaw accounts such as Coors Beer and Pizza Hut for a good sixteen years. Then, before overseeing the Review, he served as the Director of Advertising and Promotions at 7UP Bottling Company of Denver.

Ken, Christine Cook and Marilee Yorchek also started SummerToast, Denver’s Largest Business Networking event in 2003. The event focused on bringing together all the advertising and marketing organizations to network and create collaboration for the Colorado communication industry.

For all he has achieved within his career, we will be hosting a get-together to honor Ken. It is a free event happening May 24 at 5:30pm at Mile High Spirits in Denver. There will be a cash bar and food truck. RSVP on Facebook and let us know if you are coming... and bring your best Ken story.
